Genap aims to contribute to a better life through:
- Making sustainable solutions for water and fertiliser storage available throughout the world
- The creation of innovative products and concepts using geosynthetic materials that have minimal impact on our living environment so that future generations can also use our natural resources.
Globally we are seeing an increasing demand for water storage which is why we are also focusing on exporting our products, in addition to the Dutch home market. Our offices in Kenya and India serve these sales markets with solutions that we produce locally. We are also continuously expanding our international network by engaging new distributors.

QUALITY
Our geosynthetic and geomembrane structures are produced in compliance with the strictest quality standards. Quality is a core value which is interwoven in all our departments and processes. It’s not without reason that we are at the forefront of the sector and continuously striving to improve our products and processes.
Genap’s own laboratory includes tensile and peel testing so we can check our film material and weld connection quality. All tests are carried out in compliance with prescribed standards. The certificates with accompanying assessment directives were formulated by Kiwa and are checked annually. We also continuously check the impact of our actions on people and the environment.
HISTORY
OUR HISTORY
The evolution from plastic granules to plastic foils midway in the last century offered possibilities for flexible solutions for permanent applications. Foils were used for producing silage pit covers and truck sheets through to foils for greenhouses, slurry pits and water basins.
These days, foils are essential for the storage and protection of soil, liquids and gasses. The history of our firm goes back to 1951, when the entrepreneurial husband and wife team Mr & Mrs Groenveld took their vision and turned it into reality.
- 1997 : Genap achieves ISO 9002 and VCA (Safety, Health and Environment Checklist) certification
- 2000 : The factory is extended again by an additional 2400 m2 of production floor space
- 2007 : The incumbent Board acquires Genap by means of a management buy-out
- 2012 : Dick van Regteren becomes director and major shareholder of Genap
- 2015 : Genap opens affiliate in Kenya
- 2015 : Genap takes over Prosé Geotechniek
- 2017 : Genap takes over Appel Bouw B.V.
- 2019 : Establishment of Genap India private ltd. Siliguri India
- 2021 : Takeover of Beutech Agro BV activities & opening of production location in Steenwijk
- 2021 : Joint venture with Naue Prosé Geotechniek bv

WATERSHED GEO®
Since January 1, 2022, Genap has an exclusive partnership with Watershed Geo® for the distribution and installation of ClosureTurf®, a synthetic end capping system for landfills. Genap works closely with AGRU, the producer of the geomembrane component of ClosureTurf®. The cooperation with Watershed Geo® is a logical extension of this partnership.
ZON OP WATERBASSIN
Genap works closely with 'Zon op Waterbassin' for the development of a one-stop-shop solution for solar foil on water basins. The floats and panels are supplied by 'Zon at Waterbassin', the floating cover comes from Genap. This also closes the area between the panels and the slope, in order to keep the water quality as optimal as possible.
AGRU KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK GMBH
AGRU Kunststofftechnik GmbH is an Austrian manufacturer of high-quality HDPE and LLDPE geomembranes. Genap has been the distributor of AGRU in the Netherlands since the beginning of 2000.
FIRESTONE
Firestone, a manufacturer of EPDM rubber, and Genap have been trading partners since the 1990s. The partnership mainly involves the distribution in the Netherlands of PondGard EPDM for ornamental ponds and Firestone EPDM Geomembrane for civil infrastructure engineering and slurry storage projects.
QUALITY SERVICES
The quality services body accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) for testing and certification in the field of, amongst other things, geomembranes. Kiwa is the body responsible for auditing Genap’s VCA and ISO 9001:2008 certifications, for verifying our CO2 footprint and for the various certifications for the assessment guidelines for processing and installing foil structures.
GENAP INDIA
Genap India is a joint venture based in North East India. North Bengal Irrigation and Genap have been in business since 2007. Only in 2020 we took the decision to start local manufacturing. Our joint venture focusses on the production and installation of modular steel watertanks. Our water storage tanks are used for irrigation and drinking water purposes.
