PHILOSOPHY

Our project, a way of life

VISION

To be the contact between humans and Nature as a benchmark company for the production of wood flooring and interior décor items that combine design, innovation and sustainability to generate a positive footprint for the communities and generations of the future.

MISSION

To show the world a new business model generated by human complicity with Nature, proposing green solutions with unique, innovative design arising from a philosophy that cares about sustainability.

We pay attention to our forest heritage, the source of our raw materials, and strive to increase sensitivity and respect towards Nature, involving all our supply chain, stakeholders and future generations through our initiatives and communication.

Itlas Spa was born from a very clear choice, for itself and the final consumer: an eco-friendly project with all guarantees. People who choose Itlas floors are sure to carve themselves an active position in the safeguard of the environment.

To merge and blur with nature in order to get in touch with your inner self and feel complete. - this is the new common need, the necessity that every man has and wants to have to be able to re-establish their own interior balance.

A sense of desired and sought wellbeing that is not a temporary trend or a modern scientific discipline, but on the contrary is becoming more and more the thread of architecture and design on a universal level - and above all, a way of life.

Deception is of course there, just around the corner: it's easy to say environmentally correct, but mankind's real need now goes beyond appearance and doesn’t settle to build and furnish their own house simply in a perfect eco-friendly "style".

The new generation of consumer-client demands guarantees, asks for certified quality of the product they purchase, they request an architecture and language which really have the ability to integrate with the surrounding environment where they live and most of all with the surrounding ecosystem.

Wood is an integral part of this lifestyle. Speaking of wood is to speak of nature and respect for the environment, because it is a raw material that regrows continuously and its use increases a renewable source with its own well-defined biological cycle.

HISTORY

1988, ORIGINS

Patrizio Dei Tos, in partnership with his father Lino, purchased the Zarpellon sawmill at Cordignano. A company was founded named Itlas, an acronym for Italparchetti Labor Legno Segati. The business concentrated its activities on producing pre-finished wood flooring, which was an innovative product in the eighties and nineties.

2000, THE NEW MILLENNIUM

In the new Millennium the company launched two projects on the market that were immediately successful and continue to be so: Legni del Doge and Tavole del Piave, two and three layer pre-finished wood flooring. The two projects were the starting point for constant growth in both industrial and commercial terms, in keeping with indispensable investments to protect the environment.

2007, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

The company began to communicate its environmental policy to the general public. In 2007 Itlas achieved its first product certification: PEFC™, Programme of Endorsement for Forest Certification. It was the first step on a path that would lead the business to stricter objectives regarding environmental sustainability and quality.

2009, MADE LOCALLY IN ITALY

All the wood flooring produced by Itlas achieved 100% Made in Italy certification. The same year a project of quality floorboards in Italian timber harvested locally was launched and named Assi del Cansiglio. Through an agreement with a public entity, our company revalues beech wood from the ancient forest that provided the Venetian Republic with oars for its ships.

2010, OUR ‘GREEN’ VOCATION

On the environmental side, Itlas pays the utmost attention to the origin of the wood and also obtains the FSC ® , Forest Stewardship Council ® certification . Confirming its “green” vocation, the company begins the installation of a photovoltaic system of 4,172 panels on the roof of the new building intended for the expansion of production.

2011, NEW MARKET AIMS

New projects were created and Itlas opened up to new horizons on the market. The company devised 5 Millimetri, a revolutionary product in terms of concept and philosophy: wood cladding, as thin as a second skin, meets the demands of a market increasingly involved in renovation, one of the consequences of the economic downturn.

2013, VALUABLE PARTNERSHIPS

Close cooperation with architect Marco Casamonti and Studio Archea resulted in the I Massivi Collection. This comprises solid wood furniture and complementary décor items that paved the way for Itlas to explore a new market segment. In the same year the company adopted an Environmental Management System, to UNI EN ISO 14001 certification standards.

2014, NEW SYNERGIES

Our business ploughed ahead on the furniture market with increasing confidence. As well as Casamonti and Studio Archea, other internationally renowned architects were involved: Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, Claudio Silvestri, Adolfo Natalini, Pietro Carlo Pellegrini and Mario Botta.

2015, WOOD THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE

Progetto Bagno was devised as part of a scheme in which house design involved the raw material on which the company is based: wood. A ‘total look’ for complete home decor, which is a philosophy and a lifestyle as well as a natural way of living.

2018, INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

At Sacile in the province of Pordenone we are setting up a new production hub for the Labor Legno Group, an investment in the future for Itlas in terms of space and new investments. The ‘Wood Street Theatre’ conceived by Casamonti and Studio Archea will become not just an ambitious project, but also the path to follow in the next ten years.

2019, SUPPORTING THE TERRITORY

At the end of 2018 the ten years of the Assi del Cansiglio project were marked by the Vaia tempest; an inferno of wind, water and mud that caused serious damage to the ancient Venetian Oar Forest. Itlas set up a campaign to support the territory by purchasing the fallen beech trees at a price above their market value, and promoting sales of flooring that contributes to the forest’s rebirth.

TEAM

OUR PROJECT, A WAY OF LIFE

My love for wood has always been at the centre of my life. This passion has been passed onto me from my father, himself, and I have tried to nurture it day after day with the same dedication one has in raising up a child.

I started this job when I was in my early twenties and all these years I have been lucky enough to see with my own eyes the most beautiful and precious forests in the world, always looking at them with the awareness of the importance of their controlled and responsible management.

This is what I strongly wanted, since the first day – that Itlas would be a company which rotated around wood, loving it and its being life. There are projects that immediately capture those who look at them for the first time as well as those who contributed to made them a reality. The “I Massivi” Collection is one of them.

Inspired by the love for wood and its being alive, it’s a project with which Itlas is looking ahead, broading its own horizons, extending its production wherever the raw material can be taken. A project thanks to which in these years we developed a strong and fruitful relationship with architect Marco Casamonti and Studio Archea, today a fundamental point of our company.

A precious collaboration, enriched by the participation to the Collection of Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, archi-stars of worldwide fame who gave to Itlas’ furnitures a high end feeling. And just now, few weeks from our third participation to “Salone del Mobile” of Milan, this already high level partnership have seen the acquisition of a new talented name in the international architecture panorama like Claudio Silvestrin.

An honour for me and without any doubt an added value to the “I Massivi” Collection and everyone that during these days will have the opportunity to admire his distinctive contribution to our project. Today we are just at the beginning of a path filled with new emotions.

GREEN

Wood is an extraordinary material. A resource that grows in abundance and is able to naturally renew itself naturally. Wood is light, resistant, exudes warmth and is particularly welcoming(has a particularly welcoming feel to it).

Wood is flexible, guarantees high performance, is excellent for sound-proofing and above all lasts in time: this is why it has always been one of the most important construction materials. But the use of wood also represents a very simple way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the main cause of climate change.

Wood has in fact carbon-absorbing properties taking place in forests and, in wood-based products such as floors, has carbon-retaining abilities.
Elegant in its naturalness, wood is the raw material used to produce Itlas floors more than thirty years of history and experience which became passion and love for its own products and for the wood of which they are made.

WOOD AND CO2 REDUCTION

Wood has an essential role in the battle against climate change. As forests help to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, using wood-based products stores Co2.

ECO-SUSTAINABILITY

ITLAS Srl produces two and three layer wood flooring and wood cladding in its production facilities at Cordignano in the province of Treviso, Italy. The company undertakes to protect the environment by applying and maintaining an Environmental Management System in compliance with UNI EN ISO 14001 Standards.

ITLAS activities are based on care for the environment, starting with strictly controlled provision of raw materials: the wood we use comes from responsibly managed forests. In 2007 the company achieved PEFC™ certification (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification), and in 2010 FSC-COC certification.

In 2009 all ITLAS flooring received a “100% Made in Italy Certificate” from the Institute for the Protection of Italian Manufacturers, guaranteeing that our wood flooring is made entirely in Italy with top quality, prime selection natural materials to the company’s exclusive models and using typical Italian craftsmanship.

Attention to the environment, as well as protection of human health: in recent years the company has adopted a water-based varnishing cycle that reduces harmful synthetic solvents.

CHAIN OF CUSTODY

Itlas intends to carry out its activities following a management model which guarantees the application and respect of the requirements of the chain of custody in accordance to the standards defined by the certifications PEFC™ and FSC ®.

The Organisation has always given maximum attention to its raw materials and using timber whose provenience can be ascertained in order to avoid controversial sources through their management.

This commitment has led the company to adhere to the identification and traceability standards of the two main schemes in existence called PEFC™ e FSC®. Respect for such schemes allows to guarantee to our clients the provenance of the timber whose origin is certified, respecting the environment and its renewable sources.

The choice to adopt a scheme rather than another was made exclusively based on the availability of the raw material on the market, which can be certified according to one scheme or another.

INFORMATIVE NOTE FOR THE KNOWLEDGE AND THE CONSEQUENT CORRECT USE OF PARQUET

The oldest of construction materials, wood is an extraordinary resource that is constantly renewable: a living source that is full of “secrets”. Lightweight but resistant, it emanates warmth and a natural sense of welcoming. It is because wood is a living material that we must always bear in mind that its structure may be affected or altered by certain external agents it comes into contact with: sunlight, temperature, humidity, and daily use. Those who purchase a wooden floor should be aware that this material does not feature the uniformity of colours and appearance of synthetic floors. These characteristics may differ from species to species. Samples are only a general representative of colour and design which does not represent the exact aesthetic end result of the finished floor.

COLOUR IN WOODEN FLOORS

The characteristics of the same type of wood may vary widely, for example in colour – variations that are strictly linked to the geographical area where the tree grows. Colour may differ even if the type of wood is the same, due to it containing extracts which establish their colour when exposed to air and light.

It is therefore a completely physiological and natural factor which over time causes the colour of a wooden floor to be affected by external agents. Over time, a wooden floor with a coloured finish will inevitably change colour in direct proportion to the shade used.
